hen The High Republic was first announced, it seemed impossible to fathom that we’d be getting new stories every few months - or more - all set in a brand-new era in the Star Wars universe.
Now, new stories have basically become the norm. And the next wave of the beginning phase has only just been announced.
The High Republic may still be in its first phase of releases, but it’s seemingly just beginning. Here’s a closer look at what to expect from Del Rey, Marvel, and more in the months to come.
A new short story by Justina Ireland will also appear in the June 8 release of Star Wars Insider. “Hidden Danger (Part 1)” involves … experimental agricultural techniques IN SPACE? Oh yeah. We’re ready.
Cavan Scott’s The Rising Storm follows the heroes of Light of the Jedi in the aftermath of The Great Hyperspace Disaster. The second adult novel in this new era of Star Wars releases on June 29.
Daniel José Older wrote another Star Wars book! Race to Crashpoint Tower also releases on June 29, offering a middle-grade perspective on the Republic Fair to accompany Scott’s novel.
Not only does Ireland have a short story on the horizon -- there’s also a young adult novel on the way. In Out of the Shadows, Syl finds herself stuck in the middle of family politics … and her own relationship drama. Again … in space. Grab your copy on July 27.
You know who else is extra busy this year? Our man Cavan Scott. His upcoming audio drama Tempest Runner blesses our ears on August 31, and follows one of our favorite Nihil villains into all sorts of chaos.
Though Star Wars publishing has only done a few manga adaptions of previous stories so far, The Edge of Balance #1 , an original manga by Justina Ireland and Shima Shinya (art by Mizuki Sadadibara) set in The High Republic will arrive on September 7.
A new High Republic storybook by George Mann rounds out this wave perfectly. Showdown at the Fair features fan-favorite fuzzball Burryaga and his fellow Jedi protecting fairgoers from the Nihil. The adventure lands on October 5.
