ven when there are gaps in The High Republic book releases, the crew behind the magic never sleeps for long. This week, Star Wars blessed us with another episode of The High Republic Show, and with it came an entirely new collection of character art, an interview you don’t want to miss, and so much more.

As always, the show kicks off with a brief recap of the collective High Republic stories released since the last show. Since it’s been a few months, most of the recap involves what you may have missed in the High Republic comics, so if you’re behind and want to get caught up quickly or you need a refresher, this is a great place to find that.

Following the recap, Jose Perez III, director of the upcoming VR gaming experience Star Wars: Tales From the Galaxy’s Edge: Last Call, discusses the game’s development and what players can expect from their journeys.

“What’s really exciting is to continue our exploration of The High Republic,” Perez said. “We were so excited to be one of the first groups to really take that into an interactive medium.”

Perez continues: “What’s so cool about this specific tale is that, instead of diving deep into [all the combat] we really wanted to take a look at what it means to have a Master and a Padawan relationship, and to teach the more spiritual side of the Force.”

Raymond Chou, the design lead on the Sacred Garden portion of the game, also speaks about how the ILMxLAB team used previous VR games such as Vader Immortal to properly capture the “feeling of the Force.”

“The challenge here,” he said, “was to tune the Force just enough that it would feel good for those game-playing mechanics in the pavilion while also feeling similar to what players are used to from before.”

Star Wars: Tales From the Galaxy’s Edge: Last Call is available now through the Oculus Quest.

High Republic Show host Krystina Arielle also sat down with editor extraordinaires Marvel Senior Editor Mark Paniccia, Viz Executive Editor Fawn Lau, and Penguin Random House Creative Director Elizabeth Schaefer. The group discusses how communications work across publishers when initiatives such as The High Republic require close monitoring and collaboration to maintain continuity.

“It’s been a great experience, because everyone is so invested in this project,” Paniccia said. “All the writers, they’re in constant communication with each other - they’re always there for us when we need them.”

The High Republic “architects” - the five writers working across mediums to bring these stories to life - include Justina Ireland, Claudia Gray, Cavan Scott, Daniel José Older, and Charles Soule.

These writers play a major role in making The High Republic the ongoing story Star Wars fans have fallen in love with. But the Lucasfilm Story Group works hard to make sure everything remains cohesive as these smaller intertwining stories progress.

The editorial roundtable is followed up with a Trail of Shadows synopsis to give readers a better idea of what they can expect from the comic. The mini-series began last month and is expected to conclude in February 2022.

And if you’ve ever wondered how Marchion Ro’s name is really pronounced, you’ll have to tune into the last third of the show to get your answer.

Finally, The High Republic Show exclusively reveals never-before-seen character posters of Xylon Graf, Neeto Janajana, Chancey Yarrow, M-227,  Jordanna Sparkburn, and Gihrra Starros.

The next episode of The High Republic Show will celebrate the one-year anniversary of the initial High Republic launch! So make sure you’re ready in January 2022 for new interviews, reflections, reveals, and so much more.
