fter Solo: A Star Wars Story left Qi’ra’s story unfinished, it’s long been speculated that we would see more of her in future projects. Some hoped for a Solo sequel; others willed her to get her own TV show. Now Qi’ra is getting her own Star Wars comic -- and it’s happening sooner than you think.
IGN announced today that Charles Soule will continue Qi’ra’s expanded universe story, which began in War of the Bounty Hunters in a new comic, Crimson Reign.
The limited five-issue series will give Qi’ra the spotlight, and its writer promises all our questions will be answered.
“While Qi'ra plays a huge part in War of the Bounty Hunters, that event is really a Boba Fett story,” Soule told IGN. “I have a bigger story I'm going to tell with Qi'ra and Crimson Dawn.”
Soule also said that the final issue of War of the Bounty Hunters, releasing this October, will lead in to this new comic and explain where Qi’ra’s story is heading.
On Twitter, Soule also hinted that Crimson Reign is only the beginning of the “more Qi’ra” movement.
So if you’re one of the many who has been hoping for more Qi’ra in future Star Wars projects, this is an excellent start. She may have only had screen time in one movie so far, but per usual, the books and comics offer a bigger, more flexible playground for storytellers to give our favorite characters more chances to shine. And commit crimes. Etc.
Star Wars: Crimson Reign is a limited comic series arriving this November.
