The Clone Wars returns on Disney+ on Feburary 21st
This morning saw the release of a new trailer for the final season of The Clone Wars as well as a February 21st release date for Disney+. After losing our minds, cheering, and crying for a while, we finally pulled ourselves together to put together 7 of our favorite things we saw!
The trailer features a number of incredible set pieces showing our favorite Jedi masters fighting a truly insane amount of battle droids. Obi-Wan, Mace Windu, and more are going to have their backs against the wall as the war nears its end.
Perhaps no character in Star Wars has found narrative redemption like Darth Maul. The Clone Wars lifted up this villain and gave him one of the best story arcs in the entire saga, and the malice in his eyes (along with Sam Witwer’s chilling narration) prove that he has much more havoc to wreak.
What would The Clone Wars be without CLONES? Many of us fell in love with Rex, Cody, Fives, and numerous other valiant soldiers of the Galactic Republic during the show’s initial run, and seeing those familiar faces again sent instant chills up our spines.
The breakout star of Star Wars animation returns to the show that launched her, and we couldn’t be happier. Ahsoka’s exodus from the Jedi Order in Season 5 remains one of the most harrowing moments in all of Star Wars, and her adventures in the bowels of Coruscant as well as her reintroduction to her former comrades are sure to make us cheer, cry, and experience every other human emotion.
Star Wars Celebration’s announcement of Season 7 last April offered a number of sneak peaks, but perhaps the most exciting was the reveal of the 332nd Legion. These troopers feature Ahsoka’s signature look emblazoned on their helmets as a sign of respect and devotion to their commander, and the look that Rex gives Ahsoka the first time she sees them just turns us to butter. We can’t wait to see them in action and hopefully buy this skin in Battlefront II.
The love story that encapsulates the era and possibly the entire saga found a new life in the initial seasons of The Clone Wars. Anakin and Padmé’s interactions were fun, romantic, and exciting as they formed a true partnership throughout their adventures, and the closer we get to the tragedy of Revenge of the Sith...the more its going to hurt every time they touch. Even if its just through a hologram.
Ahoska vs Maul. That’s it. That’s the tweet. Let’s go.
Who's that little Padawan standing next to Depa Billaba? Could that be little Caleb Dume? You better believe it is.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars returns for Season 7, the Final Season, on February 21st on Disney+.
