The might of the Final Order will soon be ready. It will be yours if you do as I ask. Kill the girl. End the Jedi. And become what your grandfather, Vader, could not. You will rule all the galaxies as the new emperor. But beware, she is not who you think she is. . .
The Rise of Skywalker delivered some of the most intense spectacle the Star Wars universe has ever seen, and beyond that spectacle lies nearly unlimited storytelling potential. With a movie so jam-packed with character moments and action set-pieces, you may have left the theater wanting even more than when you arrived...and that’s where Youtini comes in! Whether you want to dive deep with your favorite character or explore the mysteries of the Sith, there’s a Star Wars book for you.
If you look to the Canon continuity, there's a wealth of content from the secrets of Chuck Wendig's Aftermath trilogy to the Journey to the Rise of Skywalker publishing program which will likely hold the most tightly related content. Rebecca Roanhorse’s Resistance Reborn and Justina Ireland’s Spark of the Resistance will fill you in on some of the adventures our favorite Resistance heroes went through before Episode IX, while Charles Soule’s Rise of Kylo Ren comic has started to reveal just what happened to Ben Solo before he became the infamous Supreme Leader.
Beyond just the fates of our core characters, Episode IX raised a number of questions about the legacy and legends of the Sith Empire. For some possibilities into where Palpatine gets his death-cheating abilities, you’ll want to check out the Legends masterpieces Darth Plagueis, the Darth Bane trilogy, and the ever-infamous surreal Dark Empire comics.
Whether the Rise of Skywalker left you wanting more or scratching your head, there’s something here for you!
Resistance Reborn is a striking initial entry from author Rebecca Roanhorse that is a crucial prequel to Episode IX and a beautiful love letter to the Canon. Featuring the main protagonists from the Sequel Trilogy alongside some of our favorites from the latest books and comics, Roanhorse follows the broken Resistance as they attempt to regroup after their decimation during the Battle of Crait.
General Leia Organa knows that the Resistance needs leaders and strategists if they have any chance of winning the war, and it's time for everyone to call in some favors. Leia enlists the help of allies new and old from every corner of the Star Wars Canon in an attempt to create the fearsome fighting force that will finally burn the First Order down.
Part of the Journey to the Rise of Skywalker publishing push in the lead-up to Episode IX, Allegiance is a Marvel Comics mini-series featuring the main heroes of the Sequel-era saga: Rey, Poe, Finn, and General Leia. With their forces decimated after the Resistance was forced to evacuate D’Qar in the retaliatory attack after the destruction of Starkiller Base, the Resistance is desperate to gather allies. Their search leads them to the familiar planet of Mon Cala, featured prominently in the main Marvel Star Wars ongoing title, and home to Admiral Ackbar. But the planet has seen better days, Ackbar is gone, and although underwater, our heroes have an uphill battle to fight.
Disney/Lucasfilm Press have released several middle-grade novels leading up to each of the Sequel Trilogy films, and have been wonderful contributions to Star Wars storytelling. They even feature several illustrations by legendary comics artist Phil Noto! Justina Ireland's book fits into the Journey to The Rise of Skywalker publishing program as a prequel to Episode IX. This book feels like exactly what we’ve been waiting for, as it places Rey, Rose, and Poe on a quest for the Resistance including a battle against the First Order, classic Star Wars creatures, and even a superweapon. Although billed as a middle-grade novel, you’ll be disappointed if you skip it, no matter your age!
The larger-than-life conclusion to the Skywalker Saga sees the return of the infamous Emperor Palpatine as he looks to complete his ultimate goal - absolute, uncontested control of the galaxy. He recruits Kylo Ren to aid his conquest and to defeat the Jedi one last time by eliminating the powerful scavenger, Rey. The Rise of Skywalker is a blisteringly-fast-paced team-up adventure of epic proportions, with plot twists and breathtaking action at every turn. At its heart is a story of legacy, bloodline, and found family. Written by Most Wanted’s Rae Carson (a Youtini favorite), we expect a thrilling and personal perspective as she takes the movie from the big screen to the page.
Legendary Marvel Star Wars writer Charles Soule finally fills in some gaps with Ben Solo's fall to the dark side. He describes the series as “from Ben to Ren.” It tells the story of leaving Luke’s Jedi academy and donning the dark helmet as an enforcer in the First Order.
Jason Fry gets the honor of continuing Star Wars’s rich history with novel adaptation. In particular, his novelization shines in adding additional material to enhance the story in written form, such as Luke’s Force vision introduction and re-insterting deleted scenes from the film–even Rey’s third lesson! The novel allows us to get an inside look at certain characters such as BB-8 during the space battle over D’qar. Reading the novel of Episode Eight will allow you to soak up the story like never before, taking your time with the characters and getting the story from all-new perspectives.
After the Battle of Crait, General Organa's Resistance is decimated almost to the point of oblivion. But the fight is not over; they need allies and outposts. Leia sends her best spy, Vi Moradi, along with the newly reformed Archex to Black Spire Outpost where the pair will learn to deal with their past traumas, recruit an entirely new crew, and do their best to hide from the sinister First Order who has followed them all the way to Batuu.
This collection of character-focused one-shots focused on sequel-trilogy villains is a satisfying blend of being entertaining and informative. It fills in the gaps, answers “what if…” and “what about…” questions about the likes of Kyo Ren, Supreme Leader Snoke, Captain Phasma, and General Hux. Travel from the shiny hallways of a First Order Star Destroyer to the mirky swamps of Dagobah and deep into the recesses of villainy with these characters we’ve been dying to learn more about!
This collection is part of the ongoing “Age of” series of loosely connected one-shots set in the Republic, Rebellion, and Resistance eras. This book shows a wide swath of personal stories showing four very different Resistance characters: Rey, Rose, Finn, and Poe. We find out what makes them tick, why they want to be part of the Resistance, and what exactly makes them heroic. Stories about these newer characters are still sparse, so you won’t want to miss these!
What many still don't know about the Empire is that it did not instantly crumble with the destruction of the second Death Star. For a long time, those who remained loyal to the Emperor held on, refusing to surrender and accept defeat. In the aftermath of the Battle of Endor, there is still a war to be won. And it's not just up to the high-profile heroes we know and love to get the job done.
Follow an unlikely team of rebel heroes as they struggle against what remains of Palpatine's forces and try to save the galaxy from coming undone again.
While the Emperor and Vader have been defeated, Imperial strongholds still prevail throughout the galaxy. One such stronghold is none other than Chewie’s homeworld of Kashyyyk, which has been transformed by the Empire into a world-wide labor camp. After a failed attempt to free the Wookies from slavery, Chewbacca is imprisoned in Ashmead’s Lock. Han Solo, Norra Wexley, and a handful of other rebels must undertake the mission to free not only Chewbacca, but all of Kashyyyk.
Chuck Wendig continues the post-ROTJ storyline with this, the thrilling middle chapter of his Aftermath trilogy. The book also stars fan favorite characters, including Wedge Antilles, Han Solo, and Chewbacca.
In this, the final volume of Chuck Wendig’s Aftermath trilogy, we find the epic conclusion to the journey of Nora, Temmin, Mr. Bones, Jas, Jom, and Sinjir, in the events following the destruction of the second Death Star. The book focuses on the Battle of Jakku one year after Return of the Jedi. It deals with the master plan of Gallius Rax, the trilogy’s mysterious villain, and the future of the galaxy. This book also tells the story of the birth of Ben Solo and the early days of Han and Leia’s family. Wendig weaves a complex plot to its culmination through a diverse cast of compelling and mostly original characters.
Cavan Scott once again expertly captures the essence of a Star Wars adventure in a creative and thrilling way with this Poe & Finn team-up! If you’re able to make the right choices along the way, you’ll find an excellent story about our Resistance heroes going undercover in search of much-needed bacta!
The Force Awakens introduced fans to the best pilot in the Galaxy—the Resistance's X-Wing pilot, Poe Dameron. In this, his ongoing comics series set in the months leading up to Episode VII, we get introduced to to the full cast of characters who comprise Black Squadron. We also meet Agent Terrix, Poe's arch nemesis, a high-ranking First Order officer with a complex backstory explored throughout the series. Not to mention BB-8's wonderful role as Poe's sidekick!
Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise? It's a sprawling tale that establishes several important origin stories for characters fans know well. Readers learn how Plagueis seduced Palpatine to the dark side and how their alliance led to the Sith apprentice’s ultimate betrayal of his master. This is how darkness truly began to rise.
Every great story has a great villain; or, in the case of Star Wars, a great band of villains. Darth Bane: Path of Destruction focuses on one of the most indispensable Sith Lords in history and chronicles his rise to power as well as its reverberating effects on the future of the galaxy that culminate in the Emperor and Darth Vader.
Karpyshyn manages to flesh out a story that fans didn’t know they needed. It provides a better understanding of what it truly means to be a Sith. Even the most fervent fans of the Light Side will find themselves cheering for one of the most power-hungry villains in all of Star Wars as he claws his way from humble beginnings into a position of ultimate power. By the end of the first book, you’ll be scrambling to pick up the sequel.
The history of the Sith was forever changed after Darth Bane's climactic victory at the end of the first book of his lauded trilogy. Decimated by the though bomb, the Order lay in ruins as a single master escaped the planet with his new apprentice, and thus, the Rule of Two was born. This novel continues the masterful legend of Bane as he simultaneously trains the newly appointed Darth Zannah and begins searching the galaxy for the most heralded objects of Sith lore: the fabled holocrons.
Bane's pursuit of this arcane knowledge is treacherous, to say the least, but his raw power and ironclad will encase him with an armor unlike anything the galaxy has ever seen. With his legacy at stake in the form of a brilliant young woman, Bane shows readers once again that he will stop at nothing to create the order that will one day destroy the Jedi once and for all.
The final chapter of Darth Bane's legend allows the reader to witness just how magnificent and horrifying the ultimate power of the Dark Side can be. Decades have passed since Dessel escaped the Apatros mines to ascend to his rightful place as the Sith'ari, and as Bane begins to realize the true cost of such power, fear begins to fester within his mind.
Fear that he will run out of time. Fear that his apprentice lacks the ambition to continue his great work. Fear that his knowledge and passion will die with him.
But he is not the only one looking towards the future. Throughout this novel, Bane and Zannah transcend the titles of master and apprentice as they both attempt to ready themselves for the only end that the Rule of Two can offer them.
Will their dynasty continue? Or shall the Sith be lost to history?
This omnibus collects the three Dark Empire graphic novels. One of the early entries into the Star Wars mythos from the notorious Dark Horse Comics, Dark Empire is a truly epic Star Wars story. Written by Tom Veitch and illustrated in a trademark a surreal and gritty watercolor style by Cam Kennedy, this is divisive material among Star Wars fans! Written synonymously with Heir to the Empire, Dark Empire goes a very different direction. Whereas Zahn focused on military strategy and space battles by introducing a clever Imperial warlord, Veitch, a former monk, wanted to explore metaphysical themes of light and darkness. It's got all the Legends goodness you can imagine and more: superweapons, unique starfighters, Dark Side Luke Skywalker, Leia wielding a lightsaber, the return of Boba Fett, ancient Jedi lore, even a resurrected Emperor Palpatine!
