The High Republic Series
We already knew Charles Soule is one of the greatest gifts Star Wars has ever given to us - there was no doubt that he'd deliver on this grand task of writing the first story in what is likely to be a long line of the continuous, eye-opening narrative known as The High Republic. Oh, Charles Soule certainly delivered. The result is better than you're prepared for. You think you know all there is to know about the Jedi, the Force, and the galaxy far, far away. And perhaps you did ... until now. With Light of the Jedi, a new era of the Star Wars universe has begun. And so far, it's looking as though we're in for some of the best Star Wars stories we've ever read.
They knew what they were doing when they had Charles Soule lead off The High Republic era in storytelling. In “Light of the Jedi,” he weaves a compelling plot with convincing villains and high stakes. In a previously unexplored part of the timeline, he puts on a clinic in world building and introduces an entirely new cast of characters (well, almost – some Jedi live a long time, after all) who draw the reader in and don’t let go. A great story on its own, it also does an incredible job setting the table for the rest of The High Republic stories to follow.

Star Wars is for everyone. That is a statement that I have always strongly stood by. Which is why I loved this book. Because it is a Star Wars book for everyone. Whatever your niche within the Star Wars universe may be, you will find it represented in this book. This story had so much riding on it, so much that it had to accomplish. Not only did Charles Soule absolutely deliver, he also reminded the world that Star Wars books matter.
