You may be familiar with the events of Star Wars’ Original Trilogy, but Lost Stars manages to re-explore its major plot points through the eyes of brand new characters Ciena Ree and Thane Kyrell, recruited to join the Rebel Alliance by Wedge Antilles. Along the way, it tells a love story that rivals that of Anakin and Padme.

Claudia Gray is among the elite Star Wars authors when it comes to crafting compelling stories. This book excels by giving a fresh take on the Star Wars story fans already know and love.

Publisher's Summary

The reign of the Galactic Empire has reached the Outer Rim planet of Jelucan, where aristocratic Thane Kyrell and rural villager Ciena Ree bond over their love of flying. Enrolling at the Imperial Academy is nothing less than a dream come true for both of them. But Thane sours on the dream when he sees firsthand the horrific tactics the Empire uses to maintain its ironclad rule.

Bitter and disillusioned, he joins the fledgling Rebellion--putting Ciena in an unbearable position between her loyalty to the Empire and her love for the man she's known since childhood.

Now on opposite sides of the war, will these friends turned foes ever find a way to be together, or will duty tear them--and the galaxy--apart?

This is the book that made me fall in love with Star Wars books again. If I'm being honest, I was underwhelmed by a lot of the Canon novels that came out after the Disney acquisition. That isn't to say they were bad, but there just weren't any that blew me away. I picked up Lost Stars with absolutely no idea what I was getting into. I just though the cover looked cool. One of the best decisions of my life. Read this book.

This is the best book in the current Star Wars Canon. Period. This book shot Claudia Gray to the top of the authorial hierarchy, and anyone who has read the first ten pages of this novel can understand why. A brilliant love story interwoven between the most monumental events before, during, and after the original trilogy? You can't go wrong. If you haven't already read this book, I'm eternally jealous, because you still have this incredible story ahead of you.

Lost Stars is a great novel to begin your journey with, and a fun read even if you’re a veteran EU fan. All of the characters are brand new and the plot follows along with the original trilogy, but Claudia Gray’s incredible storytelling talents make this a compelling romantic tale that will have you in tears. If you’re new to the Expanded Universe, Lost Stars is an fun warmup into all of the other stories that lie ahead of you.
